あらすじ

A group of young men and women in Dublin in 1916 are embroiled in a fight for independence during the Easter Rising. The story begins with the outbreak of World War I. As expectations of a short and glorious campaign are dashed, social stability is eroded and Irish nationalism comes to the fore. The tumultuous events that follow are seen through the eyes of a group of friends from Dublin, Belfast and London as they play vital and conflicting roles in the narrative of Ireland's independence.

第1話

As Irish nationalists plot to overthrow British rule, friends May, Frances and Elizabeth follow separate paths in order to do their bit.

第2話

The people of Dublin are divided as the rebels launch their attack against the authorities on Easter Monday, turning friends and family against one another as the violence spreads.

第3話

The siege enters its third day, and the rebels try to get governments of other nations to recognise Irish independence. However, the British forces are closing in on them. Elizabeth, Frances and Jimmy get caught up in the fighting at the GPO.

第4話

The reinforcements the rebels urgently needed fail to turn up, and they are forced to surrender to the British army. As the people of Dublin vent their rage, the captive militants await their fate as the first in a series of executions take place.

第5話

A ruthless campaign of executions is carried out, but the deaths have the unintended result of building public support for the defeated rebels. As prisoners are shipped to England, May is persecuted by the authorities, while Frances is driven to take drastic action.

第1話

As pressure mounts, the Dáil and Michael Collins seek ways to secure funding. After a brush with the British, Jimmy’s role in the rebellion changes.

第2話

Surprise visitors catch Harry and Eithne off guard. Patrick contends with a dubious comrade. Ursula socializes with workmates after hours.

第3話

Butler’s bank hits hard times. Ursula has a much-anticipated reunion. A pair of prominent killings sparks more violence on both sides.

第4話

Questions of betrayal rattle both Winter’s office and the IRA ranks. Personal attachments push Ursula and Jimmy to drastic measures.

第5話

Harry’s actions come back on him and Constance. Agnes’s efforts to help Ursula come at a cost. Plans for peace create divisions amongst the Irish.
